Our Engagement in Nepal

My first encounter with Nepal in 2010 and Kathmandu was an experience that stayed with me. I met strong and positive people who, despite modest conditions, radiated joy and resilience. The landscape — surrounded by majestic mountains and untouched nature — was as remarkable as the people who live there. That experience strengthened my conviction: real, positive and long-term change is created through knowledge and education.

For many years, Lead by Profession has chosen to support long-term initiatives in Nepal. Going forward, our contribution is directed towards

Build up Nepal — an organisation working to make safe homes more affordable and accessible while reducing climate impact.
Build up Nepal is transforming housebuilding through a low-carbon, cost-efficient alternative to traditional coal-fired bricks. The model is locally led and builds capacity on the ground by supporting entrepreneurs to produce eco-bricks and construct resilient homes in their own communities. The result is increased safety, more local jobs and measurable climate benefits.

As of February 2026, Build up Nepal has supported
200 entrepreneurs, contributed to 12,143 homes, created 1,943 jobs and reduced emissions by 122,989 tonnes of CO₂
(figures according to Build up Nepal).
